Bar Brawl 3 Feb - feedback

Postby The BAG » Mon Feb 05, 2018 10:56 am

The first standalone Kings of War tournament was really well attended, we had 14 confirmed, and 12 rocked up.
Erasmus arranged to have the tournament at the Jolly Roger, next door to outer limits. thanks Jolly.

present:
David - undead - gotta admit i did not see much of david, he arrived a little late and i didn't follow his games much, sorry david, how did you do?
Duanne - Ogres - this army was assembled and painted and multibased in 3 weeks leading up to the tournament, impressive work, i'm not sure how they did in the fight but duanne is always enthusiastic about a game.
Dylan - UNdead - good looking army with some nice multibasing. as always a great guy to have round a tournament.
Evan- abyssals - as always a serious contender, didn't make the poduim but he made all his opponents sweat blood.
Fouche - salamanders- not sure where he placed but he got the snake eyes award for most double 1 nerve tests rolled.
Gerrit - undead - the third undead army in the tournament, this heavily converted army is going to be great if gerrit could stop being adhd about it. i'm glad i didn't face him because its terrifying.
Graeme - elves - best newcomer, playing his 3rd game as game 1 in a tournament is always gonna be tough, nicely done and well done on getting your army prepped and ready for this in such short time. welcome to KOW.
Jandre - Empire of dust - Another newcomer to the system, EOD is a tough army to play, I hope you picked up a few pointers.
Jonathan - Orcs with TK allies - such a great looking army and a gent to have around, prize for nicest dude in the hood.
Joppie - Orcs - the green horde looked like a real contender and it was, Joppie came in third place with 1 loss and 2 wins. a stalwart of the fantasy rank n flank stuff
Pierre - Salamanders - It was held in pretoria so special thanks for travelling across borders to attend, its good to have you back. also, your first foray into KOW, how do you feel about it?
Louis - Ogres with goblin allies - as usual a top table contender, louis placed second with 2 wins and a draw (against ed)

thanks to Everyone for coming and special thanks to https://www.pandemoniumgames.co.za/ for the prize support, and thanks to the Cabal for organising.
thanks to all who turned up, I hope its a sign of things to come.

This was great fun and it was awesome to see faces I don't get to see much.

Now if only I could play against a non-Jhb player...
Coprophilia - it's a dirty business, but at least it's better than staring at Dark Angel across the table.

Sounds like it was a hoot.

Do you reckon this will be an annual thing?

Awesome stuff. Thanks for the breakdown, Saul.

Were there any pictures taken at the event? I think we'd all love to see some.

I had a great time.

I could only put YES! on my scorecard when asked if my opponents showed good sportsmanship and I had a fun game.

These models are well known to anyone who's been involved in fantasy in the last 10 years, these models are in the army to beat if you want to win a tournament, these are ed's. the left is the chroneus, a bastard that shoots firebreath at anyone silly enough to get close enough!!! the ones on the right are the um... thingy girls, they are hard to hit, and they hit back like a mac truck, these one's had the hammer of measured force.
Image
and here is that army facing off agains daImp's orc hordes, pesky gargoyles just getting inthe way, waiting for death...
Image
Orcs don't need any help, especially from those pesky pointy eared gits, but dey sure shoot good. chortle chortle, thats a snack for later eh?
Image

here we have Graeme's newly refurbished elves going up against Dylan's quite cleverly assembled undead hordes, i think there was a draw here,

Image

An Ogre civil war, Louis' goblin loaded ogres against Duanne's recently completed (army in 3 weeks challenge) mantic ogres. I suspect louis took this one because he ended with 2 wins and a draw.
