New to Warmachine

Postby BenV » Thu Aug 27, 2015 6:46 am

Hi :)

I am looking at starting a Warmachine army. Love the models and Lore.

How is the Warmachine scene compared to the 40k scene in SA? I was looking at starting a 40k army a couple of years ago, but from all the bad things i've heard and read about 40k (Gamesworkshop) in general it seems that 40k is declining and Warmachine is gaining popularity. Don't know how true this is, especially in SA?

The reason I ask is that it is quit a financial investment and I would want to make sure my money is well spent.

I'm also looking for clubs to play at, which leads me to my next question. Which clubs in JHB have the biggest and most dedicated player base?

Thanks

You in Jozi, there is a few clubs, but someone else can tell more about that.

40K scene is the largest, and will be for years to come. GW dropped Fantasy, but 40k is going stronger than ever.

Warmachine has a lower player base, but there is regular tournaments, and finding games is easy enough, most clubs have good player base

Warzone usually has a very good turnout on Wednesday nights for warmachine.

hi

Warzone is very close to galoolies interchange, so not very far east, probably the closest club. A quick trip on the highway.

I know there is a guy starting something in the Alberton (Brackenhurst) area. Got a small shop that will be opening soon and they play on thursdays but its small to start off with.

Depending how Hardcore you get you could always play at warzone Wed and Sat and then this place Thursdays. Let me know if you want the details and ill try get them for you.

Thanks Menset, that will be great, pm me

Now I guess it all comes down to this. Which is the best, most RELIABLE place to buy Privateer press models from, be it here or from overseas. I bought some battleship models from the UK a couple of months ago...and it got "misplaced" by our top notch SA post service depo in JHB....R2000 down the drain...

Most of us use Discount Games Inc.

http://www.discountgamesinc.com/

I think Marco is putting in another order reasonably soon, so if you order with him you can save on shipping.

If you come through to Warzone tomorrow, we can chat a bit more.

Discount games. I second that. Prices are great.
You do end up waiting due to our postal service though.

My last 3 purchases all took around 6 weeks. I've heard a bit longer though.
They're something terribly satisfying about personally murdering the enemy wizard-general. Wracking them is cathartic, like squeezing a great big stress ball, except you're strapping it to a massive metal religious icon and it's screaming. -cryptomancer

It depends much of the option you use for delivery. First class mail is unreliable and stop to be tracked as the package is out of us.
Priority shipping is fully trackable and take around 1 month. Strongly suggest such option.
