Cape Town Journeyman 2017 - with a twist

Postby Malafide » Tue May 09, 2017 10:25 am

Hi there guys,

Cape Town is looking to run a JM league to try and get some new blood into the game and, just as importantly, get some older blood back into the game post Mkiii.

with that in mind i link hereto a draft league pack for comments and feedback. Everyone is welcome to comment, but if you are not looking to play please let me know in your comment as id like to favour the majority of the group who will be stuck with the rules pack.

Here is the link to to the doc in its current form:

PM me your comments or leave them right here... whatever works for you.

Cheers,
Lourens

I'm keen.

My preference would probably be for the 6 month format given the time taken to purchase + assemble/paint models when required.

In.

I vote for 6 Month schedule.
I vote for restrictions on casters and spam as detailed in the doc (No caster units, no more than 2 of a unit or jack/beast)
I vote for an entrance fee and prize support (be it patches or a voucher for pandemonium/Quantum)
I vote for a visible league tally (so we can see who is "leading"
I vote for a commencement in June, which results in the league ending Nov

I agree with all this except that I think the caster restriction needs to be lifted at like the 65pt or 75pt stages so people can play their brand new caster units (Caine3, Strahkov2, Morghul3 etc).

I agree with what has been said, notably like the idea of entrance fee for some prize support and a visible leader board/tally. 6 month schedule sounds good for painting/import times.

Would also like to suggest we assign each participant an opponent each cycle. That opponent should be someone they generally don't play against (not necessarily according to the leader board). Shouldn't be anything strict, just a nudge to play against some new people. Maybe make that game count double points or something, make it more exciting.

Query: Where is Warmahordes played in the cape? Is there a casual play culture as well as an organized play/league/competitive scene?

Guys usually play at the Battle Bunker in Tyger Valley or Quantum Gaming in Plumstead.

There are often tournaments on the go, leagues have been lacking but this is looking to revive that scene. Definitely casual play as well, just drop a game request in the group and go.
