The WARMACHINE community has been buzzing with anticipation since the announcement of WARMACHINE Mk II and the public field test. The wait is quickly coming to an end, as the full field test materials will be posted Monday, April 6, 2009.

The Mk II field test documents will be available for download from the WARMACHINE Mk II field test site at fieldtest.privateerpress.com. Players will also need to register on the site in order to provide feedback from the field test. Registration will open with the release of the WARMACHINE Mk II field test documents.

Its 8 megs.

The first massive change is the costing system. Freeking massive and makes War machine incompatibility with hordes? (If using MK2 rules that is)

eg. Menoth Crusader 6 points. Choir with 3 lackeys 2 points.
They're something terribly satisfying about personally murdering the enemy wizard-general. Wracking them is cathartic, like squeezing a great big stress ball, except you're strapping it to a massive metal religious icon and it's screaming. -cryptomancer

This incompatibility will only be a problem while using these rules.
For Hordes against Warmachine, stick to old rules for the moment.
Hordes Mk 2 will release shortly after Warmachine next year, so
any incompatibility will be resolved quite quickly.
Anyone know if there will be a Hordes Mk 2 field test?

Some really cool stuff in Mk2.
Many feats and abilities are less complicated.
Also many feats are now mobile, as in they will affect
you even if you were not in the control area at the time the feat was used.
As long as you are within that control area when then effect would happen,
it does. Eg. Stryker's feat (+5 armour) moves with him.

I was concerned that they would destroy a game that I love.
Fortunately that does not seem to be the case.
The majority of the rules are unchanged, and the new rules
are all balanced and extremely useful as far as I can see.
This is subject to playtesting. The the points cost system is nice,
and the new damage typing system makes for a far more exciting game,
as well as a more realistic game. You can't damage Stormguard with lightning.

I am pleased with the changes overall. Some are minor. Others are not, eg.
Amon Ad-Raza now has focus 6.
