Fully painted requirement poll

Postby The BAG » Mon Jul 02, 2018 12:40 pm

Hello

I want to run a KOW exclusive tournament, and I want this to be a requirement, but i don't know how it would affect attendance

This is a gauteng poll.

I have two further questions, comment below please,

1. where are you based and how far would you travel to play a tournament?
2. what do you expect as prize support for placing 1, 2 or 3.

2.5. do you expect a goody bag at the door?

1. Pretoria based. Don't mind driving for a one day tournament provided it's in the same province (ish)
2. Honestly I don't expect anything of support, I'm just happy if it's there.
2.5. while nice goody bags are not expected

I voted before reading the Gauteng only bit. Ignore one of the "Yes, I have many options that will meet that requirement".
I just got excited when I swa KoW tournament and started hitting buttons

1. JHB Based. I used to be willing to travel but after this weekend not so much.
2. Some form of trophy for bragging rights or a prize if you charge entry. A good breakdown is 1st 40% of total pool, 2nd 25%, 3rd 15%. 10% to the TO for putting up with everyone's [removed] and 10% to venue/club hosting.
2.5 I am not a self centred millenial who expects praise for pitching up, so No goody bags are not necessary

The goodie bag of useful tokens you arranged previously was really awesome. Something useful like that is great, although certainly not essential (ie awesome to have, but nobody is going to stay away or decide to come based upon it. Best case is someone is a little more hyped to come the year after).

I've not answered the poll as my answer would be useless to you. As far as prize support goes, it really depends on the entry fee - best bet is to use a % of entry fees collected as a base line and go from there. This can be tricky in a big con as people playing smaller systems feel shafted when their winners get much smaller prizes than other, bigger systems despite the same entry fee, but isn't an issue at all for single-system tourneys.
Coprophilia - it's a dirty business, but at least it's better than staring at Dark Angel across the table.

All depends when it is. I'm coming up in September. Two trips to the North on the spin is a bit much to ask the missus.

This is hypothetical for now.

I wanted to do it in october, on a saturday, for a full day, perhaps a weekend, if its a weekend, entry fee increases and so does prize support.
I would only run 2 days if there are more than 14 players. we can squeeze 4 games in a day if we are able to run from 9am to like 8pm. then you get a clear winner.
