This is the story of the Crimson Clan Orcs at ICON 2016. In pictures cos Orcs don't like writing stuff.

Very cool looking army, Mr Merry-Mint. How did it all go? How was this venue? How was the participation? You got more pics of the other guys stuff?

Turn out was disappointing I felt. We had 8 players when I know there are a lot more around. Most of the armies were fully painted which was good with only one army being completely unpainted and one needing to be based. I do think a lot of work can still go into the presentation of armies but painted is far better than unpainted. I still have work to do on my army as I just got it up to a basic standard with speed painting for a couple of months in preparation for the event. Now it needs to have proper attention paid to it.

The venue was great. I really liked that it was inclusive in that we were not removed from everything happening at ICON. We had a good sized area (which will need to be bigger if more players start playing) that was nicely cordoned off from the general public but still very visible. All tables had chairs and we were close to the food court area. It gave us lots of traffic viewing the games being played and a lot of exposure. The scenery on the tables was decent (being critical I would say it can be improved but it was better than many tournaments in the past).

My biggest gripe was on how tournaments (across the board) are run locally. Basically all being waac events with no concern for other elements of the hobby and the different types of players - but for that see my post in the tournaments section. :D

I really enjoyed all the interest from passers by. All the armies was a joy to watch in action. The Crimson Clan Orcs really inspired me on the hobby side and I strongly agree we should reward players that show up with armies like these.

Thank you for the pics, really looks great.

Venue looks great.

Pity about the turn out. Only eight players.... :(

How was the turnout for 40k, Fantasy (not KoW), war machine and x-wing?

If we hang onto the venue for next year, hopefully we could increase the player base across all systems.

8-)

Turnout were 28 for 40K, 8 for warmachine(mk2 tournament so some people weren't interested), xwing had 12 on Friday for escalation and 32+2 for Sunday regionals. WHFB is dead so zero participants

fair enough although most people I know who play KoW are new too the game and dont have 2000pts painted. maybe 1300-1500. the fantasy guys mostly sold their armies or just stop playing. 2000 points might be a bit rough for now... Even though I do agree playing 2000pts is alot more fun
