Who is playing the supplements?

Postby Captain Sensible » Wed Jul 06, 2016 2:40 pm

Okay, so I see there are some supplements for kings of war.

Are you playing them?

What are they like?

We play Unchartered Empires so we can use all of our armies. We just got Destiny of Kings (the campaign one) and we'll be doing a campaign soon.

Well uncharted empires is mainly fluff and new army lists.
100% recommended though.
I am still trying to get my hands on destiny of kings, but I hear it is good.

We have been using a modified version of the Destiny of Kings campaign rules for the 3+ campaign. Works pretty well although it is fairly simplistic. I haven't had the opportunity to play the narrative campaign yet but it looks like it would be fun.
Uncharted empires gives you access to more army lists and is only really needed if you intend to play with one of those armies.

what kind of extra armies are those? The missing GW counterparts, or fluff based versions of those in the main rulebook?

They are extra armies - some are the GW counterparts, others are unique new armies.

To quote Mantic:
"Nine brand new Kings of War armies giving budding generals a whole host of new options and dastardly tricks to outfox and out-fight their opponents, including The Brotherhood, Salamander Armies, The Herd, The League of Rhordia, The Trident Realms of Neritica, The Empire of Dust, Night-Stalker Armies, Ratkin Armies and the Varangur
New special rules to further enrich your playing experience.
Lots of new background information on all the armies and the units within them."

Where is the Eli's chaos?
I spend most of my money on Warhammer and games, the rest is just wasted.

Chaos Warriors are Varangur.
Brotherhood = Bretonnians
Salamander = Lizardmen
Herd = Beastmen
League of Rhordia = Empire with Halflings plus Dogs of War (to an extent)
Trident Realms are new Fishmen
Empire of Dust = Tomb Kings
Ratkin = Skaven
Night Stalkers are new and a sort of Nightmarish army, with Scarecrows and worms, and weird crazy monsters

I would love to start a Night Stalkers army. Looks like fun :) Just don't have the necessary models :(

Thanks for that, the names they made for those armies are anything but clear.

Hmmmm.... to me it seems Mantic set up in time for the GW failure. And they used to work there, so I think they knew long ago what was going to happen with warhammer. I sure hope they do well now.
