Hi there,

I'll be running a League at Warzone for AoS. We have a whatsapp group for organising games. Just let me know if I should add you to it.

First league will run from now till Somewhere in May. Full League structure to follow (including where AoS will fall into the Warzone Champion structure), but for now, here's the AoS houserules that will be in effect (the following is copy/pasted directly from what was posted in the whatsapp group):

1. Use the 4 page main rules. Sudden death rules to be used as normal. Triumph rules can be used as normal - honour system please guys.
2. Azyr comp needs to be used for points (the 'heroic' variant). Remember that although azyr comp may refer to 1 point for 5 models, if the warscroll says minimum 10 models, you must adhere to the minimums. Ignore pages 4, 5 and 6 of the azyr comp rules pack. These pages will be replaced by the following rules.
3. Summoning rules: summoning is defined as any rule bringing models onto the field that was not paid for as part of army building. (a) Any summoned unit may not do anything in the Hero phase, in addition to any other rules they may have. (b) when summoning, you should have models to represent what you're bringing on. (c) when summoning, only minimum sized units may be brought on, unless otherwise specified. (d) summoning spells all count as the same spell for purposes of number of times a spell may be cast per turn
4. Measure from base, not model
5. Reasonable proxies allowed. As long as your opponent can know what you're fielding after a quick explanation. For instance, if you want to use space marines as a proxy for stormcast eternals, make sure your opponent knows what is what
6. Some units have very 'silly' rules. You'll know it when you see it (like the masque of slaanesh requires you to dance while rolling dice to gain a bonus) Assume the effect of the silly rule to be auto in effect. Some units are actually being updated to remove said silly rules, but until then, assume it is on.
7. Named characters cant be duplicated in your list
8. Natural dice rolls of 1 to hit, to wound and saves always fail (seems obvious to us veterans, but the rules dont state this explicitly).
9. Use the normal victory conditions as per the rules, dont use the azyr points.
10. Games lasts for 6 turns unless otherwise specified

The main rules can be downloaded from games workshop's website, along with rules for every single model released by them (forgeworld is the same). The azyr comp rules can be downloaded from louisvillewargaming.com under resources.

Out of interest, how many players are currently signed up for this league?

i have 12 people on the whatsapp group. I'm thinking about half of that will become regular players, with the rest at least testing the waters once or twice.

Good to know, here in the south a couple tested but to my knowledge there is sadly no one playing at the moment.

So two games down on Wednesday, with good feedback all round :) We didn't use Time of War, Scenarios or terrain rules just yet. Still trying to get into the game.

I've updated the rules above with 2 extra summoning restrictions, added victory conditions and game length, added a note to use heroic azyr rules and removed the sudden death and triumph restrictions.

I'd like to request players/observers of the game to please comment on how rules can be abused or broken, whilst adding the above house rules for the Warzone league, so that we may look into it. I feel i managed to cover all loopholes or imbalances, but please let me know what you think.

Hey guys, after hearing/reading all the negative comments on all the forums and well everywhere to be honest I was super sceptical but after our game on wed it's actually a lot of fun, without the need for a secretary to keep me in the know about my army. I'll definitely carry on playing.

Rich. (Danie's opponent on Wed)

I played with Warren last Wednesday and I had fun.

I think the most imbalanced things are still summoning (re-raise a unit of 9 that you killed already just with a 6+ on 2d6 is quite rough). This also can be broken with the blue scribes who cast at 2+. It means they can summon greater demons on a 2+. It's really a big abuse so I hope no one will use it.

Also the arcane bolt abuse looks a bit rough but not too much after all. What disturb me it's that it just put mortal wounds without any roll, but you need to cast it and can be dispelled.

The unclean one looks beyond immortal but in the end is a greater demon of nurgle so it make sense. Need a bit of focus to be killed, it's alright (also I had [removed] rolls so he looked better than he really was).

For the rest, it looks the system is quite balanced, for example trolls were never too good, but I must say they satisfied me in the last game. Hard hitters, maybe not so survivable but playable.

Another think I didn't understand was about regeneration. I see it talks of units. So if I got a unit of 3 trolls and lose one, can I still regenerate the lost model and raise it from dead or not?
