Your compliments(if that's what you think your statements are) were delivered with a fistful of knuckles.

Sure, but it's directed at AoS and Geedub, not Danie.

Age of Sigmar FTW!

not dissing any of the other systems, they work and have their appeal. But i love AoS. Once you "pierce the veil"it becomes a very intense and strategic game. sure its no rank and file game, but its definately a whole lotta fun.

Yes GW can be full of s*%t but i'm fully taking advantage of the new Good Guy GW thats showed its face.

Maybe the issue is that it is quite a leap into the new system. theres a lot of changes and a new way of thinking, and sometimes playing an opponent who doesnt see the more fun side of it can discourage wanting to play. the new books are giving major customization options. theres more fluffiness to each army, and the power level is fair all round. i would say come over but people seem to have an aversion to playing in durban!

that's the issue, and that answers your question in hte other thread. that's what GW did to deserve vilification.

After a lot of deliberation and youtube videos and forums I have decided to take the leap and give AOS a go.

If I end up hating it I will give KOW 2nd edition a go. It seems that the general condenses on the interweb is that AOS is quite fun.

To be honest it is not the game system that has the appeal, but the fact that I can use all my VC units and from what I have seen a couple of new units. I Hope there is still a good degree of strategy involved in the system, but I guess I will find out. All in all the positive out of everything is that at least im painting my models again.

Thanks for all the replies on the thread.

I think only the black coach is unusable in kow. the rest of the army moves easily

Are there still tactics involved in AOS? Or is it just two armies marching up and having a slugfest?

Are the armies more balanced? And what would I need to play?

Want to play with the point system.

there's very much tactics involved. however, you need to play it yourself to see, dont let others dictate for you.

playing points, comp and scenarios from the general's handbook will help

when you say what do you need to play, what do you mean?

the generals handbook has all the rules and points you need and the warscrolls per unit is for free on GW website.

Well for example, when I played 7th you needed the rule book and your army book and off you went to the races.

I only played pitch battles. Enjoyed it the most and that was always played at tournaments, so win win.

I take it that I would have to buy the generals handbook?

Well, the GH has all the points, pitch battle scenarios, composition and allegiance rules in it - so the purchase is worth it. I ordered mine over the weekend from DarkAura - R270. However, the GH is being redone and a GH2 is coming soon - so you may want to hold back on the purchase.

A new app is going to be released by GW where you can make your armies for 99p pm. Will have all the latest points and scrolls in it.

For AoS you need the 4 page rules, your units' warscrolls and preferably the GH for the rules mentioned above. I found these online, printed it in booklet form and it took less than 10 pages (excluding my Warscrolls of course).
