US Armoured Company

Postby mikegeyser » Wed Apr 13, 2016 1:25 pm

Hey guys,

I'm still busy finishing off my US Armoured Company (tanks!) and some other models. I like playing out of Blood, Guts and Glory and Bridge at Remagen books - but I really don't like the cookie cutter Bill Wilcox approach to playing Confident Trained tanks. So far I've felt most comfortable with the Reluctant Veteran Shermans out of Remagen, but that's just personal preference. I'm also not very precise (read rivet counter) when it comes to markings and colours, and have taken some artistic license.

Here are some pictures of things I've recently completed.

Cheers,
Mike.

Fantastic paint jobs on your tanks Mike. You really are getting that forced highlight style down (I forget the actual name for it).
The paint jobs on all the historical stuff is generally of such a high standard. I wonder if it has something to do with a limited (and realistic) colour palette versus the do as you please aspect of Fantasy and Sci-Fi games?

M4A3E2 "Jumbo"

Modelled after this tank, Cobra King, supposedly the first tank to break the German lines in the siege of Bastogne and relieving the embattled paratroopers. I believe that 4th armored division, and the 101st airborne have different opinions on whether they needed relief. :P

It's just a pity I couldn't find the right serial number decal (US 3083084), so I left it off. I also didn't have the right mix of numbers to hack the number together, nor trust my free hand (at all, let alone at this scale).

Anyway, it was fun. Jumbo's lead the way!
