Like? Napolionics?

I'm sure some of the PWG guys play a few historic systems but we are all in the Cape

Nah, Napoleonics has never really appealed to me. Samurai, Colonials and Moderns/19th century are the stuff I enjoy.

There certainly are historical gamers around - just not yet very well represented on this forum (which obviously has its origins as a fantasy/sci-fi gaming forum...).

Talking for PWG, Cape Town (not sure about who plays what in Gauteng):

Samurai - the guys who play this period use Ronin from Osprey or a fanmade adaption to Saga. 28mm

Colonials - plenty played here - mostly Black Powder, also Muskets and Tomahawks for skirmish-scale encounters. Mostly 28mm, some 15mm, some 6mm

19C - Mostly Black Powder, again mostly 28mm, some 15mm, some 6mm

Moderns and Ultra Moderns - Mostly skirmish scale: 28mm. Bolt Action (with the fan-written statlines for ultra moderns), and currently looking at Skirmish Sangin, Force on Force, and Operation Squad. Forces currently being built up by the club include 1980s cold war gone hot "what if" units, and Afghanistan from 1980s-present. There were a few guys doing Angolan conflict in 6mm - I think they used adapted Command Decision rules.

Keep asking around: IIRC there were a few Joburg-based forum members threatening to play some Zulu Wars games using Black Powder rules...

I've got a 28mm Zulu army on the painting table. My 28mm French Napoleonic is battle ready - disgraceful that it doesn't interest you). I also have some 28mm 8th Army figures that will eventually reach the table for Bolt Action. SAGA is played at both 3+ and Warzone.

Where you based?

Based in Edenvale (Gauteng). Planning to check out Warzone, just too many projects at work requiring me to be on-site at weird times of the night. Most of my historical stuff is 15mm, but I would be keen on fielding my 28mm modern African militia if anybody at the club is interested (I could provide an opposing force in the form of mercenaries). Are you part of Warzone, Alqualonde?

I am, only there on Wednesdays though since I live a long way from Jo'burg

I have some 15mm Picts who haven't seen action in many years.

Ok. Would you fancy a game of No End In Sight playing militia vs mercenaries on 3rd August if the club is meeting then (voting day). I've never been before - is it fine for me to just pitch up? I can supply rules, figures and terrain.

Afraid I'm registered to vote in Hilton so won't be in Gauteng on voting day, or the following week

Ok Alqualonde. Is the club meeting on Saturday morning? If so, what time and would I be welcome to come past and check it out?
