War (and hobbying) calls! Will you answer?

Greetings guys. We've been discussing the idea of bringing Armies on Parade event to South Africa this year. However, time is a bit short as we intend to showcase it around the ICON/CCA period, but the next one will have full notice. So call this a trial run. This shall be a joint event between Threeplus and Warzone.

From armiesonparade.com:

What is Armies on Parade?
"Armies on Parade is a global celebration of your Citadel miniatures collections, held in every Warhammer and Games WOrkshop store accross the world. This is your chance to paint an army to the best of your ability, and show it off for the world to see.”

Why should you enter?
"Some enter for fun, some to challenge themselves to complete a painted army in a given time, and some just to join the worldwide celebration."

Now, we don't have any official GW stores in our country, however, I think the focus on the hobby aspect of the respective systems will be a nice change from the constant tournaments. The intention for this event is to have minis from 40k/AOS/LOTR/HH involved, and also Specialist Games. If there in enough interest from other systems, then we could do spinoffs.

The aim of the categories is to have certain levels that people can participate in. Category A is the ultimate goal, but Category B allows those who buy the Start Collecting! boxes to put out an army. Category C is a fun low level way for the Specialist Games to get involved.

When: We are aiming to have this coincide with ICON. If ICON is too early, we will try and align it with a major tournament or event later in the year (CCA etc.)
Where: TBC, see above

Requirements:

- Fully painted and based miniatures from Warhammer 40k, Age of Sigmar or Lord of the Rings (1 system per entry)
- More than 4 signed up parties per category opens the category to charging entry fees and therefore prize support. A R200 entry fee applies if that is the case.
- Display board is not a requirement, but if used the overall height is to not exceed their allowed width
- Third party models must be cleared with the organisers, but a rule of thumb is to have some manner of GW part involved somewhere.

Judging:
Entries be judged on these main areas. AOP is usually a public vote, but considering our density of players, it may be taken as surveys etc. both online and at events.
- Painting standard (technique and consistent army theme)
- Board (quality of board, the board should also complement the army and narrative)
- Narrative. A short (length to be confirmed) write up on the background of the force or anything you want demonstrated by your project

Q: Are you open to add Shadespire to the specialist games or are they too small?

A: Shadespire does not represent a significant change in terms of model count and intention from Warcry, and for all intents and purposes, you can use the factions represented in Shadespire in that game as well.

Seeing as there are no GW stores in SA and this is not an actual GW event, how about opening this up to other systems.

For example Kings of War would be category A and Infinity could be category C.

So, I don't mind either way, but;

We are treating this is a testbed for future events and (for us at least) GW systems are more accessible. Also I'm personally unsure of what are appropriate categories for the different systems.

I have added a section to the linked Google form for people to submit their requests for extra systems and what appropriate category should apply to it. So get your guys to finish the form so we have an idea of what to add.

Added Shadespire FAQ

Added Horus Heresy armies as a Category A option
