The tournament is now active on the Best Coast Pairings app.

Download the app, and search for a tournament on that date OR search for the "CAPE LEGACY ITC"

What is defined as a "legacy" model?
You know those times when you wish you could think of something funny or interesting to say, but just can't... yeah, this is one of those times.

a Legacy model refers to Index options I believe. GW is slowly moving to ban these from matched play but you are allowed to play those in this tournament

Exactly as Henning has mentioned. GW will compile a "Legacy" model index soon, and then adopt the suggestion that these be excluded for play, since they will only be balanced and costed once, and then not again.

The idea behind the Cape ITC Legacy is to make the tournament ITC compliant, but future proof it against anti-legacy ruling so that people can use models and units theyve put their time, money and effort into.

At popular request....

Included in the entrance fee will be a set of standardized tournament dice.

You will get 26x 14mm Dice, (20 one colour, 4 another and 2 another) as well as 4 "d3" dice.

The tournament will use these for all games to avoid any problematic "lucky" dice or otherwise cursed hard-to-read dice.

Pre-Game, Deployment & Setup

PRE-GAME

Step 1: Before any dice are rolled, players adjust and define terrain on the board, then both players
choose Warlord Traits, Psychic Powers, spend pre-deployment command points, and any
additional Relics they wish to use . As per rules, your army's “free” relic must be noted on your roster.
Any other abilities that are chosen before the battle must also be noted at this time.
These should be written or notated clearly for reference in game.

Step 2: Players reveal the items from step 1 to each other simultaneously.

DEPLOYMENT MAP & OBJECTIVES

Step 1: Players place all mandatory objectives following scenario guidelines as listed on each mission. Instructions for placing objectives are as follows:

A: All objectives are considered to be on the ground floor and may not be placed inside of enclosed buildings. Move terrain if necessary to accommodate this requirement.
B: Distances are measured to and from models to the closest point of the objective marker when determining which models are in range to control an objective.

Step 2: Players roll-off for deployment.

In missions 1, 3, and 5 use the following deployment Roll-off rules:

Step 3: The player who rolled highest may EITHER:

A: Roll for the deployment type/map randomly (Ignoring the deployment types in Game 2 and 4), and then pick their side AND attempt to roll to "Seize the Initiative" when the roll is required.
OR
B: May CHOOSE the deployment type/map (Excluding the deployment types in Game 2 and 4), and then pick their side BUT forego any attempt to roll to "Seize the Initiative" when the roll is required.

In missions 2 and 4, use the following deployment Roll-off rules:

Step 3: The player who rolled highest determines which of the deployment zones they will set up in – using the tournament-determined deployment type . Their opponent uses the other deployment zone.

In all missions:

Step 4: Place any additional objectives if required in the manner outlined above.

Step 5: Each player chooses 2 of the Secondary Mission Objectives listed below. A player may only choose each mission once. They then reveal them to their opponent simultaneously.

DEPLOYMENT AND DETERMINING FIRST TURN

In missions 1, 3, and 5 use the following deployment and first turn rules:

Step 1: The player who did not pick their deployment zone then deploys their entire army first. After this, the second player does the same.

Step 2: The player that deployed their army first chooses who goes first,

Step 3: If possible, the player going second may attempt to seize the initiative.

In missions 2 and 4 use the following deployment and first turn rules:

Step 1: Starting with the player that did not pick their deployment zone, players take turns in placing units one at a time until they are finished..

Step 2: Roll off for first turn awarding the player that finished deploying first a +1 modifier to this roll .

Step 2: The player that wins the roll-off may choose to go first or second.

Step 3: The player that is elected to go second by their opponent may choose to roll to seize the
initiative.

In all missions:

Step 4: After determining who takes first turn, players may make any pre-game movements or take any pre-game actions.

NOTE: If both players have pre-game movements, as per the FAQ, they must roll a dice and, starting with the winner, alternate fully resolving each of these abilities.

The amount of slots available will be changed to accommodate the confirmation of the JHB contingent coming down to make this a real national-level tournament!

We're waiting on confirmation from PE, but will also happily make space to accommodate these or any other out of town players.

Full Tournament Rules Pack out on FRIDAY.

For information sake, we will be using the vast majority of the ITC rules (including GW's painting standards).

Found here:

https://www.frontlinegaming.org/2019/12 ... uidelines/

HOWEVER - due to time constraints we will NOT be requiring updated bases this time round, but will be moving towards this in future ITC events.

Attached is the first draft of the RULES pack (not mission pack - found above).

It includes the ITC Code of Conduct (which is quite different from how we run things here) and I strongly recommend taking time to read through it in detail.

IN OTHER SWAGGY NEWS!!!

2 items have been added to a swag kit for players.

Each player will get 2x transparent objective distance templates. They have a 32mm base hole in the middle so they fit over your 32mm-sized objective markers and can be used to check claiming distance easily.

Additionally, each player will get a magnetic "SCORE" Counter - tracking your points (or even your Command Points if you wish).

***ARMY ROSTERS***

MUST BE UPLOADED TO THE BEST COAST PAIRINGS APP by Friday 10th January 11:59pm .

Once all rosters are received, they will be made live and viewable the following day.

FAILURE TO UPLOAD YOUR ROSTER ON TIME WILL RESULT IN YOU BEING DOCKED 5 TOURNAMENT POINTS.

The roster that you submit to BCP will be printed out, stamped for verification and then given to your opponent on game day.

Opponents should check for the verified stamp on the list.

No changes in your list are permitted from time of submission and the list is to be played as submitted - with the obvious exception of abilities, traits and relics that are chosen before the battle.

Please note, however, specialist detachments must be noted on your roster.

(Side note: For fairness sake, I will submit my list to one of the non-playing judges prior to uploading a day before everyone else)
